National Commander's Report
I would like to open by saying Thank you to all AMVETS Family members that have been so supportive to the Sons of AMVETS. I am honored and humbled to be a part of this organization. I would like to Congratulate National AMVETS Commander Cleve Geer, National AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary President Leslie Wunderle and all the National Officers.
I believe the Sons had a very productive convention and the newly elected and appointed officers have hit the ground running. We have some great stuff in the works for the upcoming year. One of our first priorities is to greatly increase our Representatives and Deputies at the VA Centers across the country. One part of this is to get our members that are doing volunteer service in the facilities to become registered volunteers. The second part is to communicate the successful programs that the Squadrons and Departments are conducting with the membership.
Our second priority is to increase our communication ability with greater access to the memberships e-mail accounts, our newly revised online forms have been changed to assist in this. On the same note we have formed an IT Committee to develop and implement a Web based membership program. We are planning on having a working program in place before the next National Convention.
In closing I would like to announce that my program for this year is Adopt a Vet. Many Squadrons and Departments are very generous with their support of Commanders projects. This year instead of using monies from your general fund I would like to see you do one extra fundraiser and earmark the proceeds for the Adopt a Vet project. This will enable you to support a much needed project and not take away from your own projects. I hope to see many of you in my travels this year.
